I saw a big difference between the union and the non-union, mainly in the money at first. It gave us a little bit of freedom. Right now my wife's able to stay home with our kids, rather than have another job. We're raising our children. By the same token it gave us more time because we weren't working as many hours. I was able to be with my family.

The pay for members of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers is great -- up to 35% better than non-union wages. More than that, an IBEW electrician gets overtime pay for any time worked after a standard working day. And the IBEW negotiates any pay increases, saving you from the often uncomfortable and dreaded task of asking for a raise.

In addition, our benefits program provides both health insurance coverage and a generous pension package.
